Julia came through

Since I’m not sure how many people will actually ask me questions, I decided to answer one question at a time, just to make this last longer. Wink The first question is…..

“What is the weather like?”

Right now, the weather most days is in the 50’s and overcast. It’s not bright and sunny. When we get sunny days, we do school outside! The month of January was colder, and temps went down to the 40’s. Now, being a Mainah, I know that’s not cold. BUT, the apartments here are not heated. Let me tell you, 40 gets cold when it never warms up and your apartment is 59 inside. We didn’t bring warm enough clothes and lived in 3 or 4 layers for the entire month of January while the natives had on North Face puffy parkas (you can get those easily in China in the markets). It was NOT parka weather people, but I sure could have used a warmer coat. Wink We felt like wimps.

This summer it will be brutally hot and “wicked” humid. An interesting fact is that you have to run a dehumidifier non-stop (we actually have two) or things will mold in your apartment. ICK! Yell In July and August, no one wants to live here, Undecided. Everything is air conditioned though and we have a pool for our apartment building, so we’ll find some relief. You sweat as soon as you step out of your apartment, so you just have to mentally prepare yourself for that and get over it. There is no way to avoid the heat since you still need groceries, Wink. I hate to be sweaty and sticky, so I’m dreading the summer. I’m hoping my summer experiences in Texas and Tennessee will help me deal with it. July and August in both those places were pretty harsh, and I survived. It gives me hope…..Wink

On the bright side, I am not dealing with a rough Maine winter. My dad said they’ve had 79+ inches of snow this year and winter’s not over yet. I am just amazed at how much snow and other “junk” you all are getting. Yikes. I’ll deal with my “harsh” winter, thankyouverymuch.

P.S. Julia, you win the prize! I love that you beat out Tracy! Kiss E-mail me your address so I can send you the super cheap, cheesy prize. Ok, it’s just a cool postcard. Still, it’s mail from the other side of the world. C’mon, that’s cool!

Have you found a church to go to?
Are you glad you moved or would you rather be in the US?
Are the kids glad you moved?
Do you think the move is bringing your kids closer together since they have left their friends behind?

I look forward to reading your answers and knowing your family in this small way. It is always a grateful thought for me. Hope your “flu” bug stays away along with the creepy kind as well.
