trying to keep up
Trying to keep up is my motto in more ways than one these days. I feel like I am continually behind.
- We have a tiny washer, so it’s challenging to stay current with laundry. I am always behind.
- There is always another box to unpack and put away. I am always behind.
- Everyone in HKG moves right along to get on the train, bus, etc. They don’t want to wait for you. I have four children in tow and I am fat and out of shape. I am always behind.
- You have to carry every. single. item. home from the grocery store, so you only buy what you have to have that day. There is a perpetual list on the fridge and curses on you if you go by a store and don’t call to see if I need something. I am always behind.
- School is a wonderful dream at this point. One day I will get in the groove again. But for now, I am always behind.
It can be discouraging if I let myself think about it, but I don’t stop long enough to do that. We just keep plugging along and I’m accepting that I will be behind for a very. long. time.

Hang in there and cut yourself some slack. You have only been surviving in a foreign country for a short time. I’m confident it won’t be long before you consider all your American friends/family slow and lazy.
PS.. my spam security word: PEACE.
Fitting, huh? hehe.
