it’s all about the delivery

Over the course of the past few days, we have had four big bookcases delivered, one entertainment center, a small shelf, bottled water for our water cooler (they deliver every Saturday), a new tv (plus a follow up visit to install the tv), and the rest of our groceries will be delivered today. Yup, in a place with no car, it’s all about delivery. It’s strange to get used to, but nice. I’m getting better at rememberig my address too. Laughing

R had a pretty nice birthday, considering “I have to spend it in HKG!!”. I took her grocey shopping with me while the little elves back home, along with Miss C, used my NEW KITCHENAID MIXER to make a birthday cake. A challenge for sure, when you realize we have no measuring cups or spoons. Daddy converted the size of some little container we had to metric so we could measure with it and C eyeballed the rest. (For those of you in TN, and other foreign lands, C is a wonderful young lady from our church in ME that agreed to fly over with us and stay for 2 weeks to help us get settled, so I have a temporary nanny. She ROCKS!!). As they were putting the cake in the oven, C discovered that the warnings on the cake pan we purchased said, “Do not use this pan in heating device such as oven”. WHAAAAT?! We dd it anyway and nothing exploded. Smile We’re not sure what they meant, but things often get lost in translation here, so it’s not surprising. It sure was funny though. Then they moved on to start Miss C’s specialty, Corn Chowder. Oops, I mean chowdah. Wink It was fabulous and I can’t wait for the leftovers, tee hee.

We had no candles (forgot to pack them) and couldn’t find any, so Daddy took a household candle (the red ikea one, Beth) that’s in a jar, and put it down in the hole of the bundt cake. It was a riot to look at and R was laughing so hard she couldn’t blow out the candle. Laughing We also had ice cream which is a treat here. You don’t have many options, and the sizes are laughable, but we had some, and it was yummy. Walking home with that in my backpack wasn’t so fun though….my hiney nearly froze. Laughing

Too funny about carrying the ice cream home. Have you tried Dreyer’s? That is our favourite.

I lost the piece of paper that has your e-mail address & mailing address on it. Can you e-mail it to me again? I have some questions about completely insignificant things that have nothing to do with this post!
