November
We are moving to Hong Kong during the second week of November. We haven’t purchased plane tickets yet, so I don’t have a “written in stone” date, but it looks like the 13-15th of Nov is when we’ll wing our way eastward. Well, technically, we will be flying westward, all the way across the United States and then across the Pacific. But you get my point. We’ve decided to break the trip up and see how it works. Flying with four children for 15 hours from Chicago, over the North Pole, directly to Hong Kong does not sound like fun. We hope to fly across the country to CA, spend the night in a hotel, and then finish the journey the next day. Any opinions out there from those that have done it; is one way any better than the other?
The relief I feel is unbelievable. I could really start crying if I thought about it too long. Not because we are leaving, (although that does make me sad), but because it’s like a bit of the pressure has been released from the pressure cooker that is our life. The pressure has been mounting for two years now, and I do feel like I could explode. I just want it over and done with. Actually being in Hong Kong will be such a relief. Oh, how I look forward to that day!

We did the Chicago direct flight this time and I loved it. K did great. To me it was no longer than the west coast HKG flights. What is a few more hours when it is that long of a flight. I am also a bit of the type that when I leave I just want to be there.
There is my opinion. I don’t care which way you go just come on over.

As one of those who will be “losing you”, I am so encouraged to see Beth’s responses here so often and to sense her excitement for you all to arrive “over there”. Still praying for you, my friend! Someday I hope to get to meet Beth, who seems like she is already a very good friend to you. I LOVE HOW GOD WORKS THAT ALL OUT!

I am glad you have a departure date all worked out as it will make planning easier on you. Personally I would think spending a night in the hotel would be fun for the kids but I would want to get there as soon as possible once you are on your way.

I am so GLAD I found your blog again!!! I have had you on my mind for days now, wondering if you were there yet and what had happened. I never saw you on HK after the crash a month or so ago and SO wanted to hear what was going on!!!
I have to admit that a part of me is jealous! And I also am SO glad that Beth in Asia will be there to help you, along with the other folks you have met.
