it’s been a while
April? My last post was in April? No wonder B has been harassing me. Sorry folks.
I’ll just hit some highlights so you won’t fall asleep.
First of all, our departure time frame has been decided. It will be the second or third week in September. No specific date yet, but as we get closer, we’ll pick one. Actually, once we buy plane tickets we’ll have one. That pretty much locks you in to a date,
. It was going to be July, so I am thrilled the date got changed. It gives me the summer in Maine (YEAH!), we avoid moving during the hottest month of the year (the temps in HKG are around 100 and very, very humid), and I have more time to pull things together. The downside is that hubby will be traveling to HKG this summer without us since a big machine is being shipped and needs to be installed. Sigh. That part is not so good.
DD #2 and I went to a whirlwind trip to TN to visit family and friends, as well as attend a homeschool curriculum fair. It was lots of fun. I got to visit with a cousin who is like a sister to me, play with her kiddos, take her by the hand through the fair and say, “Don’t buy that product. or That company is great! or Stay away from that one.”, all the while keeping her hydrated and rested so her brain didn’t explode from information overload.
I was able to gather lots of information at the fair myself to help hubby and I decide what direction we want to take with schooling in the fall.
After a much too short visit with her, I headed north to stay with friends from our TN days. She has three girls now and B was in heaven, having all those playmates. We had a wonderful visit there as well, and I managed to squeeze in one visit to Sonic. Ah, sweet bliss!
They have added debit and credit machines to the drive up, which cracked me up. (For those who don’t know, Sonic is a drive-in burger place. They bring the food out to your car. Sadly, they don’t use the roller skates anymore.
) After I had pushed the button and placed my order with a sweet girl with a definite accent, B says to me, “Mama, I have no idea what she just said”. Yankee child. ROFLOL!!!

I went to church on Sunday and caught up with lots and lots of people, which was FUN! It was also Biker Sunday which was an experience in itself. Everything was outside and then there was a picnic. I was able to see lots of friends and get a sunburn at the same time. Who remembers to take sunscreen to church?!?!
I chatted with a couple who is adopting a baby from China and they will be flying out of HKG on their return flight while we are living there. I’m so excited that I get to meet their little one before anyone in the states does. At least I’d better! If they don’t call, there will be repercussions.
We are headed to NH tomorrow to spend some time with my parents at their condo. This summer is all about spending time with family and friends before we head to the other side of the world. We have some fun things planned and the kids are really looking forward to it. I’m also discovering who really likes us and who doesn’t really care by the people that have said, “We have to get together before you leave!”. It’s a good test of friendship, and family relationships too, sadly enough. We are going to squeeze every last drop out of this summer and revel in Maine weather and the beauty of the area.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like you are keeping busy. Be glad for the summer there but don’t worry it will still be hot when you arrive.
