still struggling with sleep
How long does this jet lag garbage last?
I managed to stay awake all day yesterday which was not easy (I fell asleep sitting at the kitchen table!) and went to bed with the children. I woke up at 2 am, WIDE AWAKE, and never got back to sleep. AAAHHHHH!!!!
I’m going to spend more time outside today and see if the sunshine (please send some this way) will help reset my internal clock. Sigh.
As long as I’m up, I’ll post another story for you….
One evening while we were in HKG, a native family invited us to their home for an authentic meal. The main part of the meal was noodles in a type of broth (delicious!) and then there were other dishes full of chicken/veggie combos, etc that you put on your noodles. There were also dumplings fill with bokchoy and some with chives, as well as various other things. You get two sets of chopsticks…one to eat with, and the other to reach into the bowls with, to serve yourself. Wanting to be a good guest, I tried valiantly to use my chopsticks. I know how they are SUPPOSED to work…we’ve all read the directions on the placemats at the Chinese restaurants, right? I was holding them properly, but could I make them WORK properly?! NO!
Who ever combined slippery noodles with chopsticks had a sick sense of humor. Of course, I’m sitting next to hubby who is having no trouble at all, “Mr. I’ve traveled to Asia a billion times and have this mastered”and their four children who also are putting me to shame. After about 15 minutes of watching my struggle, the hostess kindly offered me a fork so I wouldn’t starve. I’ve never been so happy to see a fork in my life.
Since I’m up so early, I think I’ll mix up some pancakes for the kiddos and surprise them. Here’s hoping there won’t be another post on my blog at 4AM tomorrow.

Oh, Honey! I’m so sorry you can’t sleep. A small nap will probably not hurt you too badly, especially if you were one that could take them before. Like an hour or two. It will be hard to get awake after that though, so warn the kids before hand that when the timer goes off they may have to help you wake up! Honestly, it lasted about a week for us. I hope you are back to your normal schedule soon!

Hang in there…I’ll be praying for a good nights rest. I’m enjoying the updates so much and love feeling connected to this amazing journey you’re on. Love you and miss you still after all these years away! Send my love to Jon.
